How to Enter

Fill out our short application form before February 20, including an audio recording of the song that you would like to submit. This does not need to be a professional recording of the song. It does need to be an accurate representation of the format you plan to present live (ei– if you are entering the solo/duo category, your entry demo should present you in that arrangement).

Selected applicants will be notified by February 25, and will be asked to perform at the semi finals on February 28/29 at Prairie Hall (at the Bear Creek Funeral Home). Winners from the semi finals will then participate in the Finals round on March 13 at the KMSC Performing Arts Theatre (at JP2 school).

Bear Creek Song Contest Rules

All songs must be 100% original, and property of the performer

Songs can not be previously commercially released

Songs must be between 2.5 and 6 minutes in length

Entries received after the Feb 20 deadline will not be considered

Songs will be judged by a panel on the following criteria:

  • Quality and originality of lyrics
  • Quality and originality of melody/structure
  • Engaging nature of the performance
  • Overall memorable quality — that intangible magic that makes a song special

The Audience Choice award will be determined by votes from the audience in attendance during the finale.
