Ben Sures is one of Canada’s most entertaining and engaging singer/songwriters with great lyrics, stories and songs about everything from Rayguns to tropical fish to cooking and heartbreak.

Truly one of Canada’s best-loved singer/songwriters, Ben is the 2005 winner of the John Lennon songwriting contest in the folk category (out of 15 000 entrants). He has performed at many of Canada’s folk festivals and has been featured on CBC Radio (Canada’s public broadcaster) on many occasions.

Born a month after Woody Guthrie died and except for a brief pause to learn how to walk and talk , Ben Sures took the torch and continued the Guthrie tradition of songs that make you feel like you are part of the world, songs that make you laugh, cry. Little stories crafted by a big imagination and a giant heart, that’s what the songs of Ben Sures are.

Add in the golden years of The Winnipeg Folk Festival where Ben learned how to entertain an audience from the likes of James Keeelaghan and Taj Mahal and you have a talent that children, teens, brooding 20 year olds, baby boomers and old folkies love! He speaks with all of them in mind.

An exceptional guitar player, Sures is a student of many of the greats and his playing echoes the sounds of Mali, Django Reinhardt, Gurf Morlix and Neil Young.

Ben has five cds available through and on iTunes. Most recently he was part of the cast of the hit CBC Radio program ‘The Irrelevant Show’ where he contributed funny songs.
