case/lang/veirs is a one-of-a-kind event featuring three phenomenal, self-driven artists: American singer-songwriters Neko Case and Laura Veirs, and four-time Grammy winner, Alberta-born k.d. lang. Their collaborative LP titled case/lang/veirs came out in June, 2016, and the Bear Creek Folk Fest will be one of only four Canadian dates on their summer tour.
According to Rolling Stone’s February 29, 2016 issue, the singers came together a few years ago after Lang sent an email to Case and Veirs that simply read, “I think we should make a record together.” Despite barely being acquainted with one another, “Laura and I both responded immediately,” Case said. “There was no question.” The album’s 14 original songs were penned and recorded over the span of two-and-a-half years and a sample can be heard on the trio’s webpage http://www.caselangveirs.com.
